Our January class had many tasty moments as we learned about new ingredients, where to get them and how to make them we enjoyed some fresh ingredients.  Dr. Vradenburg and Deb Vradenburg, had a great time showing us how to have whole foods that not only taste good, but a very good for you.  Weight loss, better health, and more energy are the results of this type of cooking.    In Feb., we are doing sprouts with Stephen Keith.  He will show you how to make dishes that are delicious and full of great nutrition.    We meet at the kitchen in Dixie Middle School at 6pm.   Bring a $5 donation for food and learn how to fix whole foods another way.  Pulling away from traditional cooking and  trying to eat more raw, whole foods will greatly do some nice things to your body.  Come and join us for these fabulous lessons for a nominal cost.

The Medicine Cabinet in Your Kitchen – Ten Top Common Healing Herbs and Spices

1. CAYENNE - Cayenne pepper has wonderful cardiovascular benefits, including lowering blood pressure. Famed herbalist Doctor John Christopher noted that a couple of teaspoons of cayenne pepper never failed to stop a heart attack in only minutes. When added to food, cayenne increases appetite, improves digestion and relieves gas, nausea and indigestion. It also thins phlegm and eases its passage from the lungs.
2. GARLIC - Garlic is a natural antiseptic and powerful cancer fighter with numerous other health benefits. It helps lower cholesterol, reduces plaque, lowers blood pressure, and lowers the risk of atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries). Garlic is also effective against digestive ailments and diarrhea.
3. TURMERIC - The curcumin contained in turmeric provides powerful anti-cancer properties, especially for smokers and past smokers. Curcumin has clinically proven anti-inflammatory effects, including significant beneficial effects in relieving rheumatoid arthritis and carpal tunnel syndrome. Turmeric is also packed with antioxidants, including vitamins A, C, and E, and may help prevent cataracts.
4. CINNAMON - Cinnamon contains a compound that kills a variety of illness causing bacteria, including the E.coli, Salmonella, and Staphylococcus aureas. Research shows that cinnamon can also stop the growth of the Asian flu virus. Cinnamon helps lower blood pressure and helps regulate menstrual cycles. In addition, cinnamon has a tranquilizing effect that helps reduce anxiety and stress
5. OREGANO - Oregano is a powerful natural antiseptic. It contains 19 chemical compounds with antibacterial actions as well as four compounds that soothe coughs. In addition, oregano helps soothe stomach muscles, making it a good digestive aid, and it helps lower blood pressure.

Ginger is also effective as an anti-nausea remedy. Researchers have found that ginger is more effective against motion sickness than the most commonly used over the counter medication. Ginger is also used as a pain reliever and it helps lower bad cholesterol.

Our first Night of Food Exploration was a complete success!!!!  We had around 30 people come and visit us and see the new things we have begun.  Our group met at Dixie Middle School Kitchen Classroom.  We had soups, sandwiches, pie, salad, wraps, and red bean balls.  All of which were in thinking  of the holiday and eating more responsibly.  '

You may have seen this before, but it bares' repetition...
It's been said that God first separated the salt water from the fresh, made dry land, planted a garden, made animals and fish...All before making a human. He made and provided what we'd need before we were born. These are best and most powerful eaten raw. We are such slow learners...God gave us clues to what foods will help us and what part of the body will grow from that food.
God's Pharmacy, Amazing...

A sliced carrot looks like the human eye. The pupil, iris, and radiating lines look just like the human eye...and yes, science now shows carrots greatly enhance blood flow and function of the eyes...
A tomato has four chambers and is red...the heart has four chambers and is red. All of the research shows that tomatoes are loaded with lycopine and are indeed pure heart and blood food. ( I am thinking salsa already..)

Grapes hang in a cluster that has the shape of the heart. Each grape looks like a blood cell and all of the research today shows that grapes are also profound heart and blood vitalizing food.
A Walnut looks like a little brain. There is a left and right hemisphere, upper cerebrums and lower cerebellums. Even the wrinkles or folds on the nut are just like the neo-cortex. We now know walnuts help develop more than three dozen neuron-transmitters for brain function.

Kidney Beans actually heal and help maintian kidney function and yes, they look exactly like kidneys...(Asaragas is also amazing food for the kidney function)
Celery, Bok Choy, Rhubarb and many more look just like bones. These foods specifically target bone strength. Bones are 23% sodium and these foods are 23% sodium. If you don't have enough sodium in your diet, the body pulls it from the bones, thus making them weak. These foods replenish the skeletal needs of the body.

Avocados, eggplant and pears target the health and function of the womb and cervix of the female-they look just like these organs. Today's research shows that when a woman eats one avocado a week, it balances hormones, sheds unwanted birth weight, and prevents cervical cancers. How profound is this? It takes exactly 9 months to grow an avocado from blossom to fruit. There are over 14,000 photolytic chemicals constituents of nutrition in each one of these foods.

Figs are full of sees and hang in twos when they grow. Figs increase the mobility of male sperm and increase the numbers of sperm as well to overall male sterility.
Sweet potatoes look like the pancreas and actually balance the glycemic index of diabetics.

Olives assist in the health and function of the ovaries.

Oranges, grapefruit and other citrus look just like mammary glands of the female and actually assist the health of the breasts and the movement of lymph in and out of the breasts.

Onions look like body's cells. Today research shows onions help clear waste materials from all the body cells. They even produce tears which wash the epithelial layers of the eyes. A working companion, garlic, also helps eliminate waste materials and dangerous free radicals from the body.

November

In our journey through life, we walk along a path that takes us places. We can be enlightened, clueless, joyful, ignorant, or just be....In any case, our choices have us make detours sometimes. Addictions, emotions, crisis, or craziness all play a part in our lives. How we deal with them is the key. The prep school has some ideas to help in this life long pursuit of trying to get through unscathed...eating whole foods reverses many of our modern diseases. It connects us more securely with the divine, and helps our body to ebb and flow with a more natural existence. On Nov. 29th, at Dixie Middle School on 700 South, come meet our board members and see the things they prepare at home. Get some ideas on starting your own whole food journey. Come play with us and see how much fun eating a new way can be.
We start in room 110 in the main west hall at 6pm. We have ideas for getting through Christmas easier with whole foods that taste good and are good for your body.
See you there!!!!
